ORX-086 "Phalanx-A" (possibility of variants...)
Titans experimental testbed mobile suit (for new technologies.)

[story] The Phalanx stands as the spiritual "big daddy" of the ZZ gundam and the gundam Mark V. The Earth Federation's elite peacekeeping force, Titans, had commissioned Anaheim Electronics to design and manufacture many of their mass production mobile suits, as well as some not so mass produced. The Phalanx project was a short lived joint venture between Titans engineers and AE designers in UC0086, with intention to develop a primarily beam based attack mobile suit.

The Phalanx-A carries a mega particle cannon in its belly, two beam cannon/sabers on its back and a handheld beam cannon which was actually comprised of two beam cannons firelinked and combined into one weapon. However, of all its high output, over-the-top beam weapons, most notably, the Phalanx-A was the first mobile suit to utilize independent wire guided beam guns, mounted on the forearms of the machine (reminiscent of newtype "bits" or "funnels"). The concept of wire guided beam guns used by non-newtype pilots eventually evolved to the "incoms" which were found on both the S gundam and the gundam Mark V.[/story]

Never EVER let this on the ground. Sure, it'll stand properly, but getting it to move...will be a problem. As a design standpoint, the Phalanx-A could stand for ALOT of revisions. But I reckon that's kinda what makes it realistic...there are flaws in the design (which justifies revisions, etc.) Aside from that, its probably expensive to make new gundams, so I'm saying AE probably strips this Phalanx later and remodels it into the Mark V, just to save some money ^^; oh and yes, this "Phalanx" thing is considered a gundam.

gundam is owned by bandai

=====EDIT======

:iconultimate-super-mario: offered to colour up the Phalanx =P A first (someone volunteering, that is)
