An unofficial variant of the Federation's ubiquitous RGM-79 GM, the GM Aggressor was a stopgap training tool for rookie GM pilots of the Luna II Training and Tactics Battalion (stationed on the Federation's Luna II asteroid base)

Early waves of Federation pilots were not accustomed to zero-G combat, let alone facing off against Zeon mobile suits in space. To familiarise the pilots with at least the profile of the Zaku, most common mobile suit of the Zeon military arsenal, the Colonel of the battalion proposed the simple solution of equipping salvaged Zaku parts to several GMs to crudely emulate the shape profile of the Zeon's Zaku mobile suit.

Equipped with a deactivated machine gun and a coat of Zeonic Green paint, the instructors pressed the GM Aggressors into assymetrical combat training with the new trainees in GMs - and although a GM could not fully replicate the movements and true profile of a Zaku, the jury-rigged variant enjoyed mild success with trainers and trainees alike.

I have two ideas I want to segue into with this story about the GM Aggressor.
One is about the Luna II training school, where after the One Year War, Federation command would see the value of a dedicated Fighter Weapons School. The pilots would call it: TOP GUN
The second story is, again, after the OYW, the trainers are arranged into a semi-regular company of elite pilots and call themselves "The Aggressors" and might even transition to Titans pilots.
